EKFB has been awarded the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award, the highest honour available to employers supporting the Armed Forces community.

The award marks the culmination of several years of commitment, collaboration and determination to create a truly forces-friendly workplace, demonstrating EKFB's support for veterans, reservists, military families and cadet force adult volunteers.
Administered by the Ministry of Defence, the ERS Gold Award recognises organisations that go beyond their Armed Forces Covenant commitments, championing Defence people issues and advocating for the Armed Forces community across their sectors.
This achievement is particularly significant as EKFB is the first Joint Venture in the UK to receive the Gold Award, setting a new benchmark for the construction and infrastructure industry.
The journey to Gold has been several years in the making and has required commitment from colleagues across the business. A key driver behind the initiative has been Amy Flynn, whose passion and persistence have helped embed support for the Armed Forces community across EKFB's people agenda.
The business has also benefited greatly from the expertise and support of Phil Marks from Defence Relationship Management (DRM), whose guidance, encouragement and partnership have been instrumental throughout the application and accreditation process.
This award reflects more than a recognition from the Ministry of Defence. It demonstrates EKFB's commitment to creating opportunities for people who have served, supporting reservists in balancing their civilian and military careers, and ensuring military families feel valued and included.
As an ERS Gold Award holder, EKFB now joins a select group of employers recognised as leading advocates for the Armed Forces community and will continue to champion the skills, experience and perspectives that Defence people bring to the workplace.
Amy Flynn said: "Achieving ERS Gold is something we are incredibly proud of. This has been a long journey that has involved colleagues across the business and demonstrates our genuine commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. Being recognised as the first Joint Venture to achieve this award makes it even more special. I'd also like to thank Phil Marks and the Defence Relationship Management team for their incredible support throughout the process."
