Powered by our apprentices: Battery charging containers debut in NC2A

Powering up on charge and powering down on costs, our NC2A electrical apprentice team - Louis Mendicino and Carlton Njambi – have worked together to build battery charging containers across NC2A, acting as a safe space to charge lithium batteries on-site.

These cost-effective steel containers have the potential to save the project over £50,000 when compared to traditional use of hiring a battery charging unit. Having already built two containers in NC2A – which are currently in use - our A418 compound in Aylesbury is set to have its first unit installed on-site later this year.

Not only has this become a cost-effective way to comply with the set guidance when it comes to charging lithium batteries but it has also provided our apprentices with the valuable experience in constructing metal containment, wiring, and testing. This evidence can also be counted towards their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) - great work Louis and Carlton!
