EKFB’s Accommodation Works and Land Access Manager, Stuart Clark, has been selected to represent England in the over-40s division at the World Masters Hockey World Cup 2024. The tournament, which takes place from 12 to 21 October 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa, is a dream come true for Stuart, who has been playing hockey since the age of 12.
Stuart said: “Representing England Masters at this year’s Hockey World Cup is not just about playing a game, it is about carrying the legacy of our nation. It is an honour, a responsibility, and a journey of demonstrating our strength, skill, and the indomitable spirit of English sportsmanship to the world at all levels.”
Stuart’s passion for hockey started when he moved to Northampton from Edinburgh as a child, to find that his new school did not have a football team but instead had a hockey programme. In the 1990s Stuart was a part of the under 21s Olympic Development Squad for hockey and has since played for various teams over the years alongside working full time and raising a family.
Stuart also currently volunteers as the Operations Director for Midlands Hockey Ltd, part of the overall England Hockey areas strategy, a volunteer role that sees him working to ensure that hockey is available and governed correctly in the Midlands community whilst communicating any important matters to and from England Hockey.
As the tournament trip is completely self-funded, EKFB has agreed to help with some sponsorship towards Stuart’s costs. The remainder of the funds will be covered by donations to Stuart’s GoFundMe page. If you’d like to support Stuart’s cause, please use the link below to help to send Stuart to Cape Town and compete with the best over 40’s hockey players from around the world.
Thank you to everyone who is able to donate to Stuart’s cause, and congratulations and good luck to our star hockey player!
