Christmas: A time for charity and community

The C23 team has raised funds and donations for a plethora of locally based charities this December.

Across our Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire sites, charity raffles have raised thousands of pounds and collected more than 300 toys. Supply chain partner, the Buckingham Group, supported Bucks-based Connections Support, a charity helping the homeless, by coordinating a 'Sleep Out'. Additionally, one of our colleagues, Jason Wassell, did a sponsored silence for the day, raising over £2500 collectively. Our Calvert team also donated much needed items such as thermal blankets and clothing.

On Wednesday, team members visited Stoke Mandeville Hospital’s Children Ward and a women’s refuge in Aylesbury to drop off the 300 gifts collected by our Bucks teams – using an estimated 150 metres of wrapping paper, the teams came together to wrap the presents before delivering a mountain of toys requiring the use of three cars and 12 colleagues.

Across our sites in Northants and Bucks, donations made from a Christmas jumper day supported local charities and organisations, including, the Nutkin Ward, Trussell Trust, Southam Football Team, MIND and PACE.

Our Milton Keynes office collected donations for local charity Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes. Items included clothing, food and homeware goods.

Lydia Williams, Engagement Advisor for the North Chilterns Area said:

“This was all about giving back to the communities that we work in everyday and no matter how many times we organise these kinds of collections I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of our site and office teams. The fact our earthworks team raised over £600 for the collection in just a couple of weeks really captures the support of the appeal. It was an incredible collaborative effort from our teams in the North Chilterns, Aylesbury, Calvert and subcontractor teams to deliver such a special donation and we really hope this will bring some festive cheer to the parents and children who will certainly need it this Christmas. We wish them all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.”

Thank you to all our thoughtful and generous colleagues and our supply chain partners, including, Blackwell Earthmoving, The Buckingham Group, Venesky Brown, and Hargreaves, for their contributions and donations.
