Eiffage Kier apprentices Louie Moore, Kyle Perry, Amrit Ubhi and Harrison Faye had an exciting start to the week on Monday 25th February when they attended a press conference led by High Speed Rail Industry Leaders (HSRIL) for a morning of sunny photocalls and puzzle solving.
Along with HS2 Minister Nusrat Ghani, who grew up in the Birmingham area, speeches were made by Mayor Andy Street and Councillor Ian Ward, as they stood with members of the HS2 supply chain surrounding a 4x2m jigsaw puzzle of a map of Britain's future high speed rail link. The jigsaw's final piece was put in place by the MP to symbolise the connectivity and growth that HS2 will bring to Britain, as the final piece of the puzzle.
Other attendees included representatives from Colas, Fusion, LM and other contractors. The speeches alluded to the future of high speed rail and the prosperity it will bring to our economy, with focus on opportunities and growth in the city of Birmingham in particular.
Amrit, Louie, Harrison and Kyle were then invited by the cabinet office to give interviews about their experiences of being apprentices at Eiffage Kier and the National College for High Speed Rail, before being given the chance to complete the jigsaw themselves outside the steps of Birmingham's iconic Town Hall.
